Frequently Asked Questions

What is Micro algae?

Microalgae are from the same plant group as the seaweeds only much smaller. They are tiny single cells plants that are the power houses of the environment, from soaking up CO2 and producing most of the world’s oxygen, to manufacturing high value commercial products including nutraceuticals.

How does it work?

Some species algae have evolved to produce unique properties that stimulate the growth of plants and increase the immune response in plants, animals and humans.  These are the similar products that give other microalgae supplements (such as Spirulina and Chlorella) their unique and proven benefits. This allows plants to grow faster, develop more robust root systems, and produce more flowers per stem.  The unique biomolecular properties found in the Algavantage strain of microalgae have been developed to produce high levels of plant bio stimulant to accelerate the growth and yield of plants and crops.

The unique molecular properties stimulate the plants metabolism, increasing the growth rate, and root development (include the vital fine lateral root hairs) that allow plant to take up water and nutrients more efficiently. That way the plants grow faster with less nitrogen and water.

How is AlgaV different to other seaweed base products?

The process that we use to cultivate microalgae is different in that it does not require the harvesting and fermenting of macroalgae (aka seaweed) from the oceans. Our unique process uses wastewater to cultivate the algae with transparent photovoltaic cells (think solar panels) to provide energy for the cultivation system. The cultivation system produces no waste and, when running at full capacity, is carbon negative.

Our process is environmentally sustainable, does not require the removal of seaweed from the environment and the design of our cultivation system means that we can produce AlgaV in small areas and locate in regional centres reducing transport costs.

What types of plants does AlgaV work on?

AlgaV has been tested on a wide range of plants, and has been proven to work on almost all crop types, home gardens…. even hard to grow indoor plants!

Is AlgaV safe to use on RAW Veggies?

For commercial application, AlgaV is safe to use on all crop types when applied via the irrigation system.  When used in the garden, AlgaV is safe to use as a foliar spray. We conduct regular testing to ensure the product is safe to use on raw leafy vegetables.  The product is safe to use in organic systems and contains no fish or crustacean product so is safe to use in vegan gardens.

How do I use AlgaV?

For commercial systems, AlgaV is applied via the farm irrigation dosing system like all other crop additives.  For garden use, AlgaV is sprayed on the leave once per week.

HAS AlgaV been Proven effective?

The bio stimulant properties produced by the Alagvantage strain of microalgae has been extensively researched for many years and has been scientifically proven to work as described, for more information on the research please contact Algavantage.

What happens if I use too much?

The bio stimulant properties in the algae are very potent, and only a small amount is required to achieve great results. Like all supplements too much of a good thing can sometimes have a negative effect. If you accidentally spray too much of AlgaV on your plants, it is unlikely to have a lasting negative effect, however applying regular high does or spraying too often may (like over fertilizing) have a negative effect on your plants or crop.

How we can work with you

The AlgaVantage team can work with you to re-establish the natural production cycle, providing micronutrient dense algae products to nourish the soil, and reducing the need for chemical fertilizers due to yielding more robust produce.
